January 2023 Update
An Exciting New Year
Myrtlefield Trust Visit to Jordan December 2022
Report by Ben Thompson
Josh Fitzhugh, James Johnson and I travelled to Jordan on Friday 9th December 2022 in order to spend time with Kais Shammas, the CEO of Remission Ministries, our partner in Myrtlefield’s Arabic translation work. During the 5 days we spent in Jordan, we were able to set aside time with Kais and his team. We discussed their vision and projects, focusing on the work we plan to do with them in relation to the Quest series of books published by Myrtlefield. We learned that the third of six books we agreed to translate with Remission is now complete, meaning that we are halfway through the translation project.
In connection with this, Remission are also aiming to produce a series of approximately 122 videos on the key themes of the 6 books, which will be aimed at millennials in the Arabic-speaking world. We agreed with the team that our initial target should be a pilot series of 9 videos on the more foundational themes of the books, which would then be used for fundraising. Our time in Jordan also provided the opportunity to meet with Sinan Sweis, the head of Ophir, one of the largest publishers of Christian books in Arabic, to discuss the possibility of publishing our books once they are ready.
Prayer points:
1. For a clear path forward in terms of publishing the books
2. For the necessary funds to be raised in order to complete the video project

As we said in our previous update, we have been reviewing the best way to provide updates on what is happening in Myrtlefield. In past years, we sent out two Between Friends newsletters in both digital and print formats. These newsletters gave all the information we could share about projects we were working on, and new publications on the way.
We still want to share these details with you, but have decided to change the method of reporting, as follows:
At the beginning of each year (within the first quarter), we will send a review of what we have been able to accomplish in the previous year and a preview of what projects are coming up in the year ahead.
Then, for the remaining months of the year, we will send a short update that will include new and featured resources, prayer requests and any other news we have to share.
