Is it unwise to speak from the same Bible book for a long period of time?

This text is from a letter written by David Gooding in 1994.

You ask if it is unwise to speak from the same book for a long period of time. One cannot make rules for another. So long as one is freshly enjoying a particular book of Scripture, then it is healthy enough to keep on preaching from it.

For my own part, I find that after a while I have to move on to some other part of Scripture in order to have a balanced diet, and in order not to bore my listeners. I also find that, by going off and studying some other book of Scripture, the first book regains its freshness. But people differ, and must let themselves be led of the Lord in this.

Your brother in Christ,
