You once suggested that there is a connection between Genesis 5:1ff and John 11—in what way?

This text is from a letter written by David Gooding in 1994.

When I suggested that there might be connections between Genesis 5:1ff and John 11, what I had in mind was as follows: that Genesis 5:1ff deals with man's constitution, spirit and flesh. It also contains the story of Noah, whose experience in the ark is recorded as a figurative baptism. Noah was not saved from death, but saved through death, and brought out, so to speak, to resurrection life. It may be rather a vague connection, but that is what I had in mind when I suggested that there might be some similarity of thought between Genesis 5 and John 11.1

Yours brother in Christ,
