When our Lord comes to collect his church, what will happen to babies and young children?

This text is from a transcript of a question-and-answer session with David Gooding.

I know of no Scripture that bears on the matter. I do know a lot of Scripture that would encourage people to trust the Lord in these things. I can quite understand parents being worried about their little children; but sooner or later, like everyone else, they must ask themselves, 'Do I love these children better than the Lord does?' If he loves them as much as we love them; indeed, if he loves them more than we love them; then we can leave them in his hand.

I am going to be very gloomy now, but, you see, this is not a question that merely concerns the Lord's coming. Parents who have young children may have already envisaged the possibility that one of these days they could be killed in a car crash and leave their little ones behind. I hope it does not happen, but if the Lord allows it you are confident, are you not, to leave those children in his hand? If we trust him for that, presumably we can trust him for all else.
